    Pat,

Innovate stuff is reasonably priced and modular. You can add capability as you identify the need. For example, since acquiring the basic hardware to monitor AFR, I've added 8 channels of thermocouple input and 4 general purpose channels. Everything daisy chains together such that there is just a single serial link back to the laptop computer. I can add even more channels at any time.

The datalogging software is easy to figure out and can display the data in interesting ways. For example, it can display histograms of any channel over any span of time you select. It can plot any channel as a function of any other channel. If you want to do your own analysis, you can export the data in CSV format which most any spreadsheet software can read.

My one criticism is about their customer support. Innovate used to have a lively on-line forum with active participation by Innovate engineers. Some customers, who didn't know what they were talking about, were critical to the point of being annoying. Eventually the Powers That Be shut the forum down and made the archives unavailable. A big loss, in my opinion. Since then I haven't been able to get their customer service people to respond. Of course YMMV.

        Power flattened @ 5500RPM.
I'd like to see another test using 93 PON pump gas.
Would 100LL show different results than 93 PON?

Thank you for this. We have come a long way from my old SUN Machine and 1970 SMOG Testing California BAR regulations. I had my Smog license for 27 years. We set the points and dwell, and timing, inserted the probe in the tail pipe and ''HAND WROTE'' the HC and CO readings on the cert. Customer got the original copy to submit with his license renewal. Carbon copy in the certificate book was turned back to B.A.R. when new cert book was purchased. We had to drive to the B.A.R. office to buy new certs.

If a car had duel exhausts, we read each side to make adjustments, but the actural tests had a duel feed into one for ''average'' readings. 1955 and newer cars had PVC added as 1961 was the first year with factory installed.

The AIR is cleaner, and ''BIG CARB MORE GAS'' without air does not work. Never did. Looked cool, but made motors weak.

ZORA told me in the early 70's, ''CALIFORNIA SMOG'' and poor drivability made us create Fuel Injection. Some day, all cars will be fuel injected. He knew what was to come true.
