I have an ad from 1975 in Cincinnati where one of my '64 big brake, FI tankers was for sale for $1600, and took forever to sell, with two people turning it down because it had the big tank. The good old days........

Here is the ad from the April 1967 Road and track. I was a freshman in college when I bought this magazine. I appreciated what a Grand Sport was at the time but was not in a position to do anything about it. I have kept the magazine for 50 years out of masochism. Note also that a D-type Jag which is another multimillion dollar car, as well as two Facel Vegas and an XK-140 (for $1050) are on the same page. And also a 1965 Cobra ad is right above it not even bothering to mention the 427 part.

In 1991(?) at the Nationals in LA, I asked Bob Bondurant if it was true that he'd sold his Cobra coupe to John Simonson for 10K; he smiled and said
"Yes, it is. And don't ever bring it up again.". I haven't and my advice to others is to not do so.
