    Yellow Cadium Dichromate

Can my headlight actuators, wiper door actuator and other small parts be replated with yellow cadium dichromate?

If so, are there any shops in Northern Calif?

    Thanks,

Contact Bob Demmel. He can rebuild and restore the wiper and headlight actuators for you, and they'll work great.

      Thanks,
The yellow dichromate used in industry is a dye applied over a fresh plating of Zinc. It is commonly refereed to as yellow zinc dichromate.

I have no info on any shops in Northern Calif.

          Ian-------

This is one of the businesses that I used to regulate regarding wastewater discharge. They have been in business for a very long time---dating back to the 70's. I remember when the original owners first came to me and proposed this business. There were 2 partners----Bob Hall and another guy that I can picture in my mind but I can't recall his name. The guy whose name I can't recall left the business after a few years and Bob Hall became the sole owner. Bob operated it for many years until he passed away at a fairly young age. The shop was run by two fellows by the name of Mark and Jerry. Are either of them still there?

They do very good work. I've had them do some for me. And, yes, I paid for the work at full price. They offered me a discount but I thanked them and politely refused.

They might have a whole new crew there by now. Mark and Jerry ran things for many years but that was a long time ago. They were fairly young guys but they could be retired by now.

                  Re: Yellow Cadium Dichromate

Actually the yellow dichromate is more than a dye. Electroplates tend to have microscopic (or larger) bare spots that expose the base metal. Chromates are applied by dipping the plated parts, with the intent of sealing these holes and preventing corrosion from initiating at the bare spots.
