The TIM&JG does not show that number for SB or BB starters in 1966. I show it for '71-'82.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Late 1975 through 1976 truck with 350, 400, or 454 cid engine.
Most likely, this starter went through a commercial rebuilding operation and all that remains of the original starter is the frame (i.e. the part with the stamped numbers). Starter frames (and MANY other starter components) are interchangeable among MANY GM applications (and, even some non-GM applications). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

While the number is not correct for any Corvette or, likely, any other collector vehicle, the starter might be otherwise configurationally correct for certain Corvettes and it's probably 100% functional for someone that doesn't care about "numbers".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
