    Jerry------

It's GM #1995095. GM #1995096 is a passenger car switch and also applicable to 1958-62 Corvettes.

Agree with Joe 095 is the correct one. If you can find an NOS one prepare yourself to spend some $$$.

AC Delco March 1983 catalog shows 1995095 was also used on 61-59 Buick. Might have better luck looking in that direction.

          Jerry,

Reproductions are available. They work and look like the originals.

Don't waste your money on an NOS 095.

The thing I don't know is the difference between the 1995095 and 1995096. In external configuration, at least, they appear the same to me.

Interesting Joe, as the reproductions are the same 58-63. Same outside and same inside. And they work on all years 58-63.

Joe, Do you know if the plastic housing colors are the same? I was thinking that was one way to tell the difference??

Here's a couple of pics of the 63 repo switch. You be the judge!

Joe, I think the white plastic end is Yellow on the 63 switch and on the 096 switch its as your pic (White). This switch as your pic surely functions the same, But what I have seen is the rheostat sometimes will not get the dash lights as bright as they need to be, I recently ran into this with a friends 63, took a measurement of my switch and his and the voltage was less than the original. this could be a problem on a PV or operations. His lights at full brightness was not as bright as my car at night.

You think maybe in the last 50 ears originals have yellowed a bit? Duh!

Here is my original 63 switch, I Feel this is not 50 years of yellowing. and is more yellow than an actually yellowed white. which I have seen before when the elements come into play.

A difference in the color of the insulator could not account for the difference in part numbers for the '095' and '096' switches. There would have to be some functional difference. The voltage difference you mention could be such a difference, though.

Also, GM never replaced the '095' switch with the '096'. The '095' was simply discontinued without supersession while the '096' remained available for many years. This strongly implies that GM did not consider the '096' to be a suitable replacement for the '095'. The aftermarket appears to be not so discerning.

Joe, I am just stating that the 095 switch has a yellow plastic end on my 63 and as you eluded to the difference I found with the voltage difference
for dash lights. as for the 096 switch may have differed in some way but I am not sure. If the dash light bulbs changed then there might be the answer, but highly doubt it. or maybe the dash light brightness was to much on 63 ??
