Correct rally wheel trim rings for a '69?

    Hi all,

I know there is a great deal of discussion about rally wheel trim rings on this forum, and I have read much of it. Given that many of the posts are pretty old, though, I thought I would ask my questions directly in case anything has changed...

At this point, does anyplace sell correct reproduction trim rings for the 15x8 rally wheels used in '69? If not, what is the next best thing from a judging perspective? Are the 4-clip ones from Zip Corvette somewhat close?

Alternatively, if I could get my hands on some originals, does anyone restore them?

    Thanks,
    Paul

I think there are some on the NCRS.org on line Classifieds, perhaps?

Paul Check on page 53 of the Nov/Dec Driveline Rick Miller has an ad for restored trim rings.

        Paul,
Be careful when you buy restored or even some service replacement trim rings. Many trim rings have had the inside of the outer crimp altered to allow rotation of the clips. This is done so one clip aligns with the valve stem hole which is the first thing most people (including judges) look for. It is easily detectable as the inner side of the crimp will have a stress Mark every 1/2" or so. Originals had a relatively smooth inner edge.
