    Al Knoch coupe headliner install

I have a new Al Knoch headliner and am trying to install it in my 1966 coupe.

I'm looking for anyone who had recently done one in a C2 coupe. I can get one side of the hard plastic shell under the front and rear tabs along the roofline with the shell then fitting nicely along the one side. My problem is that I can not get the other side up into the roof recessed area and under the two tabs on that side. My part time helper (wife) even got into the car and pushed along the center line of the headliner just to make sure it was snug against the underside of the roof.

It looks like I need to take 1/16" of an inch off one edge of the shell. If you have done one of these, did you have similar problem and if so, how did you solve it?

    Thanks,
    Don

        Mike,

What is your technique? Do you get one side in the work the other side?

        Thanks again,

        Don

I've installed two AK headliners and it is tight and a pain to get located to get the last edge under the final tabs...and on the '63 the piece had to positioned very precisely not to show any gaps at the edges...

          I didn't trim anything!

Don i also installed 2 and i think it was the most difficult job i have ever had to do on a corvette. makes me wonder how the cars ever got assembled in the first place. I did take the seats out so i could move around easier.

Thanks all. I needed another set of hands and thanks to a friend we got it in.
