    72 base valve covers

Can anyone email me or post a few pictures of what these look like. I am looking for a set and I want to make sure I get the right set. Does anyone know where I can get a nice set.
Were these only used on a 72 or were other years the same?

    Thank you

    Joey

71 and 72 should look like these. What we used for the new Judging Manual..If you don't have one, you should get one.
The drivers side has two clips to hold the wire. I don't believe the passenger side does, but I'll look tomorrow.

1971 and 72 were the same. Thereafter, and mercifully, they went back to the twist-lock filler cap.

Keep in mind, though, that these valve covers were by no means unique to Corvette. The same covers were used on most other Chevrolet small blocks of the same years.

Thank you all for the replies. I just got the new judging manual. I just wanted to make sure I understood about the clips. I am trying to take my 72 sunflower convertible back to factory.

            Joey;

I think I still have one set of 71-72 base motor valve covers. They are your for the asking, no charge.

I'll dig them out tomorrow and make sure of what I have, then get back with you with pictures, etc.

Happy to help out a fellow enthusiast, and clean some more stuff out of my garage.

Please remind me if you don't here fro me tomorrow.

72 base motor passenger's side often also has 2 clips. Why? I don't know, as they aren't used. However, they are there.

                  Re: 72 base valve covers

OK, I found my old 71-72 covers.

What I have is three different passenger side valve covers (with the oil cap hole).

VC1 - Has two clips, one on top and one on bottom forward of the front hold down bolts
                  VC2 - Has NO clips
VC3 - Has one clip, on top and forward of the top front hold down bolt.

I don't think any of these are correct for a 72, but I could be wrong.

                  Thoughts?

The judging manual says the 71 has 1 clip and the 72 has 2. I think the 3rd one is from a 71. Not sure on the others. I sent you an email.
