      Re: Screw ID

      Hi Joe,

I'm getting conflicting information, and seeing conflicting information looking at dash/instrument cluster photos.

I have only seen black phosphate/black oxide fasteners used under the dash. They are used to mount the vent cables, HL rollover switch, and even the steering wheel escutcheon.

I've also seen black phosphate hex head screws mounting the vent cables, not pan phillips.

I am NO 67 expert, and I know that 67 owners are a very knowledgeable group, dare I say "picky" when it comes to their cars, much like 63 owners.

I don't have a 67 Judging Manual here at home, but I don't believe that this issue was addressed in the manual that the car owner has in his possession.

      Any thoughts?

What is on your car... and what has been on your previously owned 67's?

Would they be.............. black phosphate, oval head, countersunk, phillips head screws holding both the steering wheel escutcheon and the vent pulls?

How about the HL rollover switch? Would those be black phosphate, pan head, phillips head ?

Chuck: I thought the standard for those was oval head on the headlight roll switch and counter sunk on the vent, hood release and steering escutcheon with all being phillips and all being black phosphate. Maybe someone has seen otherwise. Pictured below are two pretty original cars I once owned that I happened to take pictures of: red one is 65 vin #19XXX with original interior and paint and blue one is 67 air coupe vin #204XX that had all original interior and paint.

                Great pictures, Gary. Thank you.

That is sorta what I thought it should be... but I'm not a 67 guru.

                  Re: Screw ID

I noticed the H/L rollover switch mounted to the right on the 67, (with A/C) and the punch out removed in this location on the 65, interesting.
