1994 LT1 egr removal

My 1994 failed its emissions test with high nox and I wanted to remove the egr, check it and clean it. I got the bolt off of the one side and the nut off of the other side but there wasn't enough room too get it off due to the fire wall and some kind of connection in that space as well. I tried to pivot it on the stud but it wouldn't pivot. Can some one tell me how to remove it, check it and clean it please? Thanks.

Jim you can check the valve bolted to engine, Just start car and use a vacuum pump to see if opens, generally when egr valve is fully open the car will stallon) ( If valve opens and does not stall there maybe a passage blocked with carbon). Don't forget the solenoid is activated by computer, it sends the ground signal to solenoid so one wire is ground the other should be powered. once grounded the vacuum is applied to valve.
