If you put 12vdc to the center terminal, don't you need to also put 12vdc to either of the other two terminals, for either High or Low speeds, so the wiper motor operates?
Its been a year since I went through mine. Mine wouldn't shut off. It would for another minute or so after turning the switch to Off from either speed. Th washer never worked before even after replacing the pump valves and o-ring seal. Had the motor/washer restored and BINGO, both worked as they should on my bench. Installed, the motor work great, but the pump crapped out. used jumpers and the pump worked, and worked without any need for priming. Turns out the wiper switch was bad and not connecting to ground for the pump. Bought a new switch and it would not fit the dash cluster panel. The attaching threads are D shaped and mine didn't have the flat milled properly. Used my Dremel and then deburred the threads. So the whole time my washers never worked was the fault of the switch. Go figure

    Hi Don.

You put 12V to the center lug only. The motor is hot all the time. Grounding one and then both of the outer terminals to gives you LO and HIGH speeds. We "bench tested" it on the car, and it wouldn't work.

We also tested the wiring to the switch.. and all of the contacts produced a ground connection as you rotated it. So, in our case, it isn't the switch.

My buddy is going to contact the rebuilder and see if he can send it back to him for repair.

Chuck, If you feel a tad adventuresome it might be a simple fix...... A internal part may have popped off or come loose.

Remove the cover attaching screws. Note orientation of the washer pump link fork and how it slides over the stud of the bar on the shaft bar mechanism.

Note orientation of cams, springs, levers, etc. That solenoid in the upper right is what activates the Park function. Check for broken wires, loose screws, popped springs. With the cover off you can hook the motor up to a bench battery and watch the mechanism work. You might see where the fault is.

It's actually fun to watch the contraption turning and parking.

If you remove the C clip holding the shaft you can take the shaft/bar mechanism apart.

With shaft removed you can get at everything.

If the solenoid wiring is broken you can remove it for repair.

This one was working but I opened it up during a cleanup and refinish last year. Glad I did as it had a loose wire ready to break off and a resoldering fixed it up pretty quickly. Someone had been there before as the terminal was repaired.

You likely wouldn't have to get this far but it's not that bad to get into these and fix things that are obvious.

Take some photos of the disassembly pieces for reference. The CSM has detailed info to help with these motors.

I did a cleanup and shot the cover and motor with some cad/zinc look-alike juice to freshen the appearance. When I did this there was no plan to judge it, just cleanup. After back on the car the recipe changed and we got the car judged. It actually judged fine...albeit a little hit for NTP "F"inish. The PARK worked fine though.

Re: 67 Corvette Wiper Motor Will Not Park

        Thank you, Rich.

        Beautiful work. Great pictures.

It's not my call whether "we" try to fix it or whether "he" sends it back to the original rebuilder.

I'm going to inform him of this thread on the TDB and let him make the decision.

If it's a simple matter of a loose wire inside.. that's not a problem. If it's more extensive, I/we don't have access to replacement parts to repair it.
