GM Part # Transmission Mount & When to Replace

I am having the engine rebuilt on my 71, 4 speed. Question is should I replace the trans mount while doing this (am replacing the engine mounts?

Is the correct GM part # for the 4 speed trans mount: #3913498?

    Thanks Paul

    Paul,

Without a doubt replace the trans mount. All parts warehouses will have the trans mount in stock. That's including NAPA, Pep Boys, O'Reilly's and many others. Would not worry about GM part for this and pay a premium price for a standard part.

GM #3913498 was the GM part number for the transmission mount. However, it was discontinued a very long time ago.

There appear to be at least a couple different after market manufacturers. One is very close to the original in terms of the steel thickness, the other seems pretty thin. Keep your original to compare to what the auto parts stores are offering. If memory serves me the Anchor brand is the one that is pretty thin. The other one is american made but for the life of me I cannot remember the manufacturer.

I do know I bought it on eBay and was very satisfied with the quality. Either way it is an inexpensive part.

        Kind Regards,

        Bill
