1962 RF long block without VIN. Is there a chance it was sold new over the counter with the fuel injection?

That is a neat motor, wish I could find one like that for my '66 L36. But, yes I have seen and heard of motors like this out there, with a virgin broach and suffix assembly date stamp but no VIN. I doubt this was sold over any GM parts counter, more likely it made its' way out of Flint (or St. Louis) some other way.
