    1963 clutch rod rubber seal

JG says clay-like sealant used to seal to firewall. Would this be like 3M dum dum only grey in color or would it be black? Thanks in advance.

Use the black 3M strip caulk. The original material I observed is black. May have black out paint on it too, as it was installed before the blackout process.

Jerry, I have replaced a few boots in my time and can tell you, they do not like staying put after the clamp Is installed, even with strip caulk, My advice is use a weatherstrip adhesive (black) and let sit a minute, to get tacky., then assembly and then lastly take the 3m strip caulk and put a small piece around perimeter of boot. also use a coating of dielectric grease on rod so the boot does not stick they tend to rip easily.
