What is the correct dating method for F41 front shocks on a 67. The 5th and 6th editions of the JM shows the alpha numeric method and the Julian method is under consideration. From most of the "original" sets of fronts that I have seen for sale are Julian dated.

Re: correct dating of F41 Front Shocks
While I do not have the 67 JG in front of me, it appears as both date formats are recognized, based on your interpretation above. The Team Leaders and JG revision teams go through great lengths to be as precise as possible, while leaving the possibility open to learn and add fresh observation data to the equation. As you get deeper involved with these cars, you will notice that there are hardly any "black or white" answers to most questioned items. Every time you think you have figured it out, you will observe "another variant".
To me, the bottom line is, that I restore the car to original as the car was built, not necessarily to what a current book is telling me. With other words, if you have the original parts that came off the car and they differ from the description in the book, photograph them before restoration and reinstall them on your car. Send your findings to the Team Leader; that is how the book will get updated with every revision.- Top

Re: correct dating of F41 Front Shocks
Stanley, for what it's worth, the latest '65 JG calls for Julian dating for both standard and F40 FRONT shocks, while the F40 REAR shock is alpha numeric. Good luck in your research. TonyRegion VII Director (serving members in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas).
