    Removing scratches from window glass

Hi Guys, Anyone know of a good source to get window glass scratches removed? I would really like to keep all the original glass on my 1970 LT1 roadster. The driver side window has some pretty deep scars on the outside from going up and down with bad felt. I tried polishing myself with a kit from Eastwood with no success. I spent the whole day working at it and just could not get the scratches out.

If I cannot repair the glass does anyone know of a good source for original glass . I know I can order new dated glass from Paragon and many other venders, but I am concerned it will not be 100% correct.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you can catch your fingernail in there, you should be thinking about a replacement glass or choose to live with it. The side windows are tempered glass and with the amount of material that would need to be removed...............not a good thing add to that the distortion that will result and you can see where I'm going. A good used glass is a nice alternative if you can find one that works that is better than what you have. Can't comment on the current replacement glass for C-3's, it's been a while since I dealt with those. Dan

      John,

I just had the rear window of my 1973 hardtop polished. It had some pretty deep scratches, but now its perfect. The guy did a super job! I'm in RI and would be happy to share his contact info if you can't find anyone local. By the way it cost me $300 which is not cheap, but I wanted to preserve my original window/date code.

      Regards,
      John

I have posted my experiences on this subject repeatedly. See the first thread in the "Similar Threads" list below for just one example. It references additional threads. The search function should have yielded you these results, but as I said in the referenced thread: "If one doesn't have the patience for a search of this board, one will likely not have the patience for this task."

Those are the folks that took out some wiper semi-circular scratches out of my split window windshield - there is some very minor distortion at the lower left but not in the eyeline of the driver. Windshield glass and side glass are different (they told me); they can get a lot deeper scratches out of side glass.... After trying this myself with pretty sorry results for deep scratches I'd call this company again..
