That could very well be. However, if that's what they thought, they were wrong.

I took the valve apart. Nothing has been cleaned yet except the ball stud and that needs to be replaced. It is rough not smooth.

Joe, I assume the spring on the right is the Corvette Spring?

        Harry,
Could you measure the 2, 12 point bolts (thread size and length) and post here? Also, is that a split lock washer on these? Thanks for your help.

16 x 1", only threaded for 1/2 inch. Yes, lock washers. All black phosphate.

Please measure the free length of both of the 2 coil springs.

That is what I figured the answer would be. I'll look for a rebuild kit that includes the stud ball and the two cups. When I take the replacement apart next spring I'll let you know what is in there.

                  Cheers.

                    Harry,
                    Thanks for the response. I think you mean 3/8 x 16 x 1" right?

                      Yes, 3/8 is good.

Harry, FWIW I overhauled the valve on my 63 a few years ago and got the kit from corvette stainless steel brakes in Miami and had no leaks or problems. I can't remember the gasket Joe refers to so I must have reused the old part.

Tim, did the kit contain everything pictured? There is a few extra O-rings for the later version of valve.

                              Harry,
Is there any type of marking(s) on the 12 point bolt head? Can you post a couple of pictures of them?
                              Thanks.

No headmarks, the top of the bolt is concave. The valve is now packed up.
