    Based on my parts book it should work for at 56-57 which measures from the collar to the full mark 19 31/64" and collar to add mark is 20 7/16" and on 58-64 its 19 3/16" from collar to full and 20" from collar to the add mark. I can't measure mine as the car is stored off site.

      What are the "A" and "B" dimensions?

      The 58-63 dipstick, GM # 3739830) measures as follows:

      A = 19 9/16"
      B = 20 21/64"
      Difference between marks = 49/64" or about 0.77".

      1963 Corvettes dipsticks have the embossed letter "M" and "ENGINE OIL".
      Original 1963 Corvette dipsticks are quite rare.

      This is a two piece dipstick. I believe that the original 1957 and older dipsticks were one piece and were stamped, not embossed.
      The 56-57 Corvette 2nd design dipstick, GM # 3722959, is described as "single piece" , A = 19 31/64", B = 20 7/16", difference = 61/64" or about 0.95". It seems that "over the counter" 3722959 dipsticks made in later years were two piece and stamped "B" as well as stamped "E".

        Enclosed are 2 photos of a broken original 3739830 dipstick from a 1959 Chevrolet truck with Flint engine. The 1959 Chev. trucks also used the same dipstick as the 1959 Corvettes. This dipstick has the embossed "M" but NOT the "ENGINE OIL".

            Nicholas,
            My original '63 stick looks identical to yours with the exception of a separated handle like David's. I found Mr. Fortier's reproduction to be an exquisite piece, in case your's ever suffers the same failure.

              It is very difficult to precisely measure the "A" and "B" dimensions because the stop is not in a fixed position. In my opinion you have a rare original 1963 Corvette dipstick. The 1963 Chevrolet truck with small block V8 also used the same exact dipstick. Back in the late 1980's when I bought an "early" Split Window Coupe, #1450, I collected at least 50 or more Chevrolet dipsticks from swap meets and salvage yards just for research purposes. It took a long time just to figure out just what a 1963 Corvette dipstick looked like. I searched for many years for an original 1963 dipstick but never found one. I avoid reproductions but only used them until I can find an original.

                  well just went out and checked the DS and apparently I have the same dip as the OP including an "M" (or W), which I never noticed before. The engine in my 59 is a 1963 283 and has a pad stamp from Tonawanda for I believe, a Chevelle.

                    Your engine must be dated in the Fall of 1963 as the 1964 Chevelle models first made the scene in the Fall of 1963.
