67' non air 390hp battery heat shield color

Does anyone know the correct paint finish for the battery heat shield? Is it semi gloss black or left unpainted? The 5th edition judging guide has no info on this.

    Thx Dave

    Dave,
You're correct in that the TIM&JG doesn't state the heat shield finish but I would bet it is the same semi-gloss black as the tray itself. This is the LIC part for reference. But, I'm sure someone with exact knowledge will chime in...just trying to be helpful.

It is a dipped part and depending on the age of the paint and moisture they are semi gloss. There are examples of NOS ones on e-bay.

The part number for the 1967 is GM 3900365. I have two NOS 1966 and earlier shields, GM # 3831632, that I bought in the 1980's and both are semi gloss black paint but as we all know that service parts are not always the same as factory installed parts. The shield was spot welded on to the battery retainer on the assembly line as shown in the assembly manual. I really think that the factory installed shield were also painted semi gloss black but I do not have an original factory installed shield for proof.

Look at Ebay as there is an NOS one there with the part number sticker still attached. You can see what it is.
