Book says ground for carb. cars ground screwed to core support. On FI cars it does not say. Does the FI cars screw to the part of the air cleaner that mounts to the core support and if so what screw does it mount to? Thanks in advance.

Re: 1963 ground wire under hood
Jerry, This is in the 6th edition I believe. Always been a topic of discussion as to the outside star washer for the ground strap. Hooks to the accelerator "flat" lever coming off the firewall.
I forget what my 63 FI car has. With or without a washer and have lost interest in having it judged anymore. John D- Top

Re: 1963 ground wire under hood
I already told Jerry on the phones and with a pic gang. But FYI. The Ground wire goes on the top left Screw (with L logo. The screw closest to the inner fender.
QT: I was under the impression the the 63 and early '64's all used a screw/bolt with an "L" logo. Yet I see guys on Ebay advertising other logos as correct.
We know GM used various suppliers.
But for the "S" Tube to radiator support on the FI cars is there in fact more than one logo??? Thanks, John- Top

L is the correct headmark for 63 for that ground wire.
I have never seen any other headmark but L in the past 40 years when looking at unrestored cars.

Re: 1963 ground wire under hood
Agree with Bob on the 'L' screws. Mine still had them, 1964 Vin 13708. Same part number through 65, but think the line workers put in the high hat type when they could snag some, late 64 and 65?
