Rear bumper bolt direction

Can anyone confirm what I see in the assembly manual concerning the orientation of the rear bumper bolt at the frame to shims. Do they go in from the front to the rear, or rear to front? the assembly manual illustration shows rear to front, But is seems wrong. Just need another opinion.

Unless the AIM specifies the inserted direction it does not matter to GM. But from my experience bolts are on the outside and nuts inside in actual typical build. Not to say that reverse didn't occur. I don't understand the portion of your question "the frame to shims". No shims were used on bumper brace to the frame.

Forgot the inner u shaped braces, yes shims to make brace flush with inside body. Memory is second thing to go....

Jim Thank you that is exactly what i needed to see, and it is just how the assembly manual shows.. Just seemed odd, so I will not doubt the manual again..... maybe. Thanks Jim

Jim do you hav a pic of the actual bumper bolt that goes through the bumper, fiberglass to the bracket? manual shows no washer just a bolt on the outside, washers and nut on inside. A pic of original setup would help a lot.

The reason for the washer on the inside is the slot in the brace/frame. The chrome bumper has a hole. Of course the bumper mounting that is threaded this is not the case.

Ok thanks I will install the Chrome bumper to braket bolts without a washer on the chrome side as per the manual. Thanks
