My bottom line...while NCRS trained judges go to great lengths to understand, delineate and define matching numbers...dealers short circuit the definition to make the sale.

There's an old saying; "If you don't know jewels, you better know your jeweler." After spending my whole life around the car business, I could write a book on the lengths some dealers and even some customers will go to get over on each other.

Avoiding the phrase 'matching numbers' altogether is probably the best course. It's rare to find two different parties who agree upon it's meaning.

Unless the seller is willing to make a written guarantee, don't count on anything. This kind of thing happens far too often.
