1969 Upper Control Arm Shaft Finish

Doing a frame off on a 1969 convertible and getting ready to install restored motor back in completed rolling stock. Going through latest NCRS JG before installing motor. On page 109 in reference to the Upper Control Arm Shaft "shaft is painted semi-gloss black'. On page 97 ;If the A-arm shaft is painted, indicating that the entire unit was painted as as assemble...' When taking the car apart there was some thin paint in the area but it did not look like the shaft was painted. My question, is it correct to have a natural steel shaft or were they all black painted? Thanks Steve

Steve, I would go with the Judging guide, since your shafts showed some signs of overspray, and if the a/arms were never apart and black paint was apparent, go with what was there.
