Convertible Top Mounting Bracket: Where might I find one (or two) of these?

This mounting bracket/plate is located behind the door lock pillar. The two holes are supposed to be threaded in order to attach the convertible top frame to the body. Unfortunately, these holes were apparently stripped and drilled out so a bolt and nut "fix" could be applied. I'm checking to see if anyone knows of a source for this plate, as I do not see it listed in the popular catalogs. Plan B will be to have one fabricated.

I can't find that this piece, GM #3824879, was ever available in SERVICE, but it's possible it was.

I'd say there are two ways of dealing with this short of having one fabricated. First, simply weld up and re-drill (make sure you make up a template first so that you have the exact hole centers). Or, use thread-serts to repair the threads.

Mark, if you don't find one let me know I have a 67 convertible rear clip sitting out behind the shop. The plates are still in it.

          Mark,

Back in the early 1980's I removed a pair of these brackets from a crashed 63-67 convertible that was at a salvage yard in Leominster, MA. They are somewhere stored in a box in my garage attic. I have not seen them for probably 30 years. I am a little busy this coming week to look for them. Let me know if you can not find them elsewhere.

              Mark,

It's been about 1.5 years but after searching for other parts in my many unlabeled boxes I came across the 63-67 convertible top mounting brackets.

                Hi Dave,

Thanks for checking back. I found a machine shop that was able to repair my plate, but I appreciate you thinking of me when you found your copies.
