Is the amount of clip exposed on each end the same? It does not look like it from what I can see. If the amount of clip exposed is not the same on both ends, then the clip is not fully seated. If it is the same on both sides, it still could be that the clip is not fully seated but in that case it's not seated on both sides.
I have found that trying to drive in an unseated clip end is usually not successful. The u-joint bearing caps must first be further compressed.
