327/350hp - reinstallation of aluminum oil filter plate/ad in oil filter recess area

    hey ...

    quick question.

the aluminum adapter piece that is bolted to the block in where the oil canister screws into --

    1. is there a gasket between it and the machines block area?
    2. the high pressure relief valve - how is it oriented in the pocket (what direction should it point).

machine shop disassembled the engine and did not install that part

    thanks

A gasket between the bypass valve assembly and block may have been used on some 1967's. I don't think the use of this gasket is absolutely necessary but if you want to use one it certainly won't hurt anything. The GM part number was GM #3903322 but it's long-since GM-discontinued. However, Dr. Rebuild offers a perfect reproduction of this gasket if you wish to use one.

The orientation of the valve assembly is not important. You can install it in either of the 2 possible positions.
