1995 FX3 Front Shock Assembly

Has anyone ever installed or removed a FX3 front shock on a 93 to 95? How do you determine how much of the rod shaft gear to allow to protrude above the mounting cup when tightening the bolt, so it will catch the actuator correctly and not damage it. Is there a technique to this process? I'm going to be replacing my mounting cups and was concerned about that issue. The car is a 1995.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, it does give "general" information and spec for the nut, and it does give a minimum protrusion for the shaft gear. I'm looking for some hands-on experience though. Maybe I'm just not trusting myself with the process.

Ed, Whenever I embark on new and unfamiliar territory on my C6, I jump on the net and do some searches....

This one may help. It's a 1991 so not sure if different.

1991 and 1995 FX3 are essentially the same.

Thanks Rich. I have seen this video, but it does not show when he torques down the nut and how much of the gear shaft he allows to protrude above the cup. I'm just going to measure the gear shaft tip (factory default setting), how much it protrudes above the mounting cup and I'll just duplicate that setting upon replacing the washer and mounting cup. I'm attaching a picture of what they recommend.
