    72 Dash Panels

    Hi Gang of many,
I have looked at every page of the AIM and find nothing showing how the dash panels are mounted. What do they bolt to??? They have to anchor some how to the fire wall? Are there floating brackets or what?
    Thanks Rey

    Re: 72 Dash Panels

Rey my 1968 and 1970 do not have any bolt connections to the firewall for the drivers and passenger side dash panels. The left and right dash panels have screws. Be careful with removing the screws from the gauge panel to the dash panels. Put them back in the removed positions so you do not puncture your dash panels. The center gauge panel does have two bolts at the bottom of the gauge panel that go through the console's metal brace and have nuts on the bolts

      Hi Rey,
In addition to the fasteners Jim described there are 6 small brackets on the underside of the upper dash pad that have u-nuts on them. These nuts are what the screws across the top of the lower dash pads fasten to.
There are clips on the underside of the forward edge of the upper dash pad that secures it to a flange on the cowl. There's also a single bracket that helps secure the upper dash pad.
      A few pics.
      Regards,
      Alan

The fasteners required for EACH lower dash pad.
The 3 screws with the collets are color keyed to the color of the interior.

The single bracket and 2 of the forward clips.

      Typical forward clip.

Small bracket and u-nut for one of the 3 screws on the upper edge of each lower pad.

        Hi Alan
Thanks for the pictures, they are/will be extremely helpful to say the least. I'll be away from the car for the coming week, going to spend the week in Vegas including three full days attending the SEMA show.
