    1993 40th Anniversary Chrome wheels

Anyone know of a good place to have 1993 Chrome wheels refinished?

I do not recollect that the 1993 40th Anniversary was originally equipped with chrome wheels.

Are they the chrome saw blade wheels or A-molds five spoke wheels? The aftermarket world has been making chrome ones for years

I'm not 100% sure but I'm about 99% sure on this.

Lots of folks have been having their wheels chromed for quite some time. I see it often on C4's, especially these 91-96 "sawblade" wheels. The original wheels are GM-discontinued. You might be able to have yours stripped and re-finished. A better plan might be to sell these as-is and buy a set of restored wheels. You want the 93-96 style, though and not the 91-91. The configuration is the same but the 91-92 are painted/powder-coated silver whereas the 93-96 are mostly clear-coated, machined aluminum finish.

I'm the 3rd owner of a 2-top Anniv. cvt from the Chicago area with chrome wheels. As Joe indicates, no mention of chrome on the invoice, so I suspect some sort of dealer "extras" package. They do look good, unfortunately - forces periodic attacks with compound to remove brake dust residue, etc.

By the way, what is the wheel code on your service parts identification label? This label should be under the console lid on your car. It will be a 3 character code beginning with "Q".

I cannot find a QE6 wheel code for 1993. Are you sure it's not QB6?

Joe, I went back to the invoice and compared the symbol I read in Q_6 to known "B" in "BRK" and "BOSE" and it is a B, so QB6. The next time I have to have tire work done, I'll try to remember to look for markings.

QB6 are the standard, "sawblade" wheels used for 1993-96. These have a machined finish over most of the wheel. Part numbers are as follows:

                              10180879-----front, left 17X8.5"
                              10180880-----front, right 17X8.5"
                              10180881-----rear, left 17X9.5"
                              10180882-----rear, right 17X9.5"

All are GM-discontinued. Isn't it great to have a car which uses a different wheel for each corner? Makes it so much easier if one needs to replace a wheel. Yeah, sure. Now, if the car was equipped with Z07, you'd only have 2 wheel part numbers to contend with.
