1963 Corvette License Plate Light Removal

Hi All,

I am having trouble getting off the license plate light on my 1963 Convertible Stingray. the screws are stripped and I don't want to put any undue pressure on the fibreglass for fear of ripping the crews out.

Any suggestions?

Were you holding the nuts on the topside as you unscrewed the screws?

Thank you for your response.

I have not tried holding the nuts on the topside.

Should I remove the rear valance for easier access?

Anthony,
it makes the job of holding the nuts much easier but it takes some work to remove the tailpipes and exhaust panel.
I'd see if you can reach up top, then decide if it's worth the effort.

Are trying to change the bulb? If so, I think there are just a couple of screw that hold the lens on.

Hi John,

I'm trying to take off the whole fixture. My car didn't have a license frame and I'm trying to install the one i bought at Carlisle.

Any advice will help.

Tony,

Your on the right track with what Bob said. There are screws and nuts (3 of them) that hold the complete license plate housing in the body. One will have to get something on the nuts to remove the screws.
