How to replace the seal at the vent window on a C2 Coupe

What is the best way to replace the front/lower rubber seal at the vent window on a C2 Coupe, in my case a 1966?
As the pin at the bottom of the vent window frame goes thru a hole in the lower part of the seal, I see no way
to replace it other than to drill out rivet(s) at the small bracket attached to the window frame half way up.
Does anyone have any experience from this?

    Hans,
Scroll down through the PDF of the Restorer magazine that I attached. It contains an article on the repair of a coupe door, including weatherstripping. Hope this helps.

        Hans,

I am restoring a 1966 coupe and just finished rebuilding the vent windows. I had the vent window assemblies out of the car which made the rebuild much easier.

If you are only replacing the front weatherstrip (identified in the first picture), it may be possible to do this with the vent windows assemblies in the car, but it will not be easy. If you are also replacing the rear weatherstrip, then I'm not sure how you can do that without taking the vent window assembly out of the car.

One of the more difficult things to do is re-setting the rivet that attaches the glass channel to the frame. I used the tool shown in the second picture attached.

If you have any addition question, I'm happy to help since I just went through this rebuild.

          Don,

Many thanks for your info on this. Just to make sure, the rivet you are replacing, is it the single visible rivet,
or is it the 2 rivets hidden under the weatherstrip?

Having done a few coupe vent windows, I find it easier and prefer to drill out the two rivets holding the bracket.

I did the pivot point rivet (the single one you can see) on both vent windows to separate the glass channel from the vent window frame and re-installed a new rivet with the tool I showed in post #4. I also had to replace the hinge/pivot bracket on one side (the two hidden rivets). I used the same tool to do these.

Don, I'm currently visiting Florida and have tried to find the tools you used.
Where did you buy these tools? What are the difference between the 2 tools?

The pictures I had in my response were two pictures of the same tool. If you look at page 46 of the July-August 2016 Driveline you will see the advertisement for the tool. The company is Man Machine Interface, Inc and their phone number is 440-871-6496.
