    C3 Jack repair?

Anyone know if the fasteners that secure the screw blocks to the scissors can be replaced?

I should have been a little clearer. Can the screw be replaced, provided a doner one were available?

      Tom,

I would tend to think so. I have several Corvair scissor jacks that I had collected years ago from salvage yards and swap meets for cheap $. I know that I have one in my garage where I did take the long screw shaft out. Corvair jacks were made by at least two manufacturers, AUSCO (Stamped "A") and Ryerson & Hayes (stamped "RH INC."). I believe that all the various Corvette scissor jacks were made by AUSCO...........but maybe not.

Is the screw thread on the Corvair jack the same?

The 1963-1967 Corvair jacks that were made by AUSCO (stamped "A") are the same as the 1963-67 Corvette jacks except for the top part that adapts to the frame. They made Corvairs until 1969. I do not have any jacks from 1967-1969 Corvairs.

Enclosed is a link for a NOS 61-65 Corvair F.C. jack , GM # 3778888, currently on Ebay. My 1968 parts catalog (July 1968) lists GM # 3858952 as the part number for 60-68 Corvairs.

            Tom,

Enclosed is a photo of a NOS 3858952 jack which is listed for 60-69 Corvairs. However, GM # 3858952 replaced GM # 3787562 (60-63 Corvair jack) in Jan. 1965. It appears that it has fine threads and was possibly made by a different manufacturer. It also appears to be narrower than the 69-74 Corvette jacks.
