    correct oil for 1959

    hello I have an original 59 with 270 hp motor with 33,000 miles what oil should I use

    Simple. Use a dual-rated (i.e. gasoline/ diesel) engine oil like Shell Rotella or Chevron Delo. I think 15W-40 is the most common but, if it were me, I'd seek out a 10W-30 if you can find it. Do not use single viscosity oils as were originally specified; they're totally obsolete in today's world.

        I have used what Joe recommends for years in my 1968's 327/350 original engine after I found out regular conventional oil I had been using had changed and did not have the engine protection it once had.

                I like full synthetic. However, your application will do just fine with full synthetic, blend, or conventional oil. Even conventional oil these days is FAR, FAR superior to what was available when your car was new.
