    Options for timing cover replacement

    Guys,

I need to replace my timing cover on my 69 350/350. I'm looking to have the car judged so before I jump on ebay and just order one I wanted to ask if I need to worry about getting one with specific markings. I don't have access to my judging manual today to see if it says anything about it but wanted to order it asap so as not to slow things down. Is there anything I need to look for?

If your current one is the original, you have two options, take some very good pictures of it before doing anything, then remove it clean it up and decide if you really need a new one or not. An exact replacement (new) may not accurately duplicate the original...

      Bill,

The current one is original. It has been powdercoated by an overzealous prior restorer and I will need to strip it if I'm going to use it, something I was hoping to avoid. I guess I could order a couple online from ebay or one of the vendors and see if it is a perfect match before proceeding.

That sounds like a good approach...

          Here is a 1969-1970 Camaro Z28 timing cover stamped "1 70" (1st week of 1970. I assume that it is the same as a 1969 Corvette 350/350.
The painted cover below is stamped "19 70" (19th week of 1970).

I have found parts a local "Pick A Part" yard. It charges $5.00 to go in with all your tools you can carry or wheel in. They will give you a price for some parts before you pay the $5.00.
