1966 Roadster, is there any overspray that is supose to be in the body Fiberglass under the door area, from the original factory application? Just need a reference point when cleaning the underside of the body. Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: Paint overspray
Anthony - Here's a photo below the side vents on the right side of my 66 with original paint. There is very little overspray on the underside of the car. You can see just a little red oxide overspray but no Laguna Blue. If you look below the reflection of the camera flash, you can clearly see where the Laguna Blue fades out and the gray primer coat (the coat on top of the red oxide) is visible. This was very evident on all the lower surfaces of the car. The painter did not aim his gun at an upward angle anywhere! Tim

Re: Paint overspray
Ok as I see your picture BELOW the body reinforcement (rust area) i see shades of the oxide primer and light blue overspray, anmd that is what my question was is that supose to be there from the factory or is it a sign of a past paint job or repair?
If it belongs I will leave it as is, if not I will remove.
From my obsevations I believe that is how they left the paint dept headed to asmebly !- Top

Re: Paint overspray
Tony - That's the original paint and original overspray. The overspray is minimal. From our observations of original cars, attention was given to the paint from the mid body line up. No buffing below that line and poor coverage (including bare fiberglass) looking up as you can see in the pictures. We believe the painters (one on each side of the car) aimed their guns down & horizontal but rarely up. Tim- Top
