    1966 Real Deal

The paint code throws me off, actual color is Ermine White

The paint code of 936 does not appear in the judging manual.

I think there is a problem with the authenticity, your opinion please?

    Re: 1966 REal Deal

    Erv,
One reference I found indicates that paint code 936 was called Sebring Silver in 1963 and Satin Silver in 1964 Corvettes. Those are the only 2 years the code 936 was used. That creates a lot of questions / issues to investigate for this particular car.

trim tag stamp mistakes are well documented by Al Greening. they were done by humans so mistakes did occur. I would think it should be 976 for Nassau blue

The trim tag rivets looks strange, could be the picture though.

Erv Maybe you need to talk to Al Greening or someone who knows about trim tags.

Erv, take some brake cleaner or lacquer thinner to the tag to clean it thoroughly... if possible, with the flash on, take a photo of the tag with a camera upside down. This will reveal the shadowing behind the characters. Good luck!

I friend of mine that I went to school ordered a new 1964 Red/Red. Corvette was all original paint/interior ETC. The car was judged at the Indiana Chapter meet & was Top flighted with NO loss of points for color. The trim tag listed it as trim 490 Body 923 which is Red with Blue interior. There were trim tag mistakes. Also yes it was a chapter meet but with at least 3 national judges were there including Big John B. Terry Mc.
