Stripping down a 67 and noticed on the vin 33 stamped on one end and 67 the other - can someone help with an explanation please ?

also both doors had E50 in light green crayon but guess that was job number / bill of materials

    thanks in advance Keith

Chevrolet had asked dealers to stamp the deliver date on the VIN tag - that's why the DD was added after Chevrolet. Most ignored the request, some stamped the trim tag because it was easier. Stamps I've seen were usually month and year. Your 33 67 may have represented March 3, '67, but who knows for certain.

Mike is spot on. No room to get the stamps next to the DD so it typically went on the bottom. What's the Trim Tag build date on yours? It's sometimes a aid to figure out if the car sat around a while of sold right away/ordered specifically for someone.

The dealer in Grand Rapids MI did this one 4 days after it was built.

We never could decipher what the numbers were on the TT, maybe internal dealer stock or order numbers

          Richard
67 build date mid Jan sold 3-3 so about 6 weeks from build to sale
          Thanks Keith

Interesting. We could probably deduce that it was dealer stock and not a ordered car.

Probably useless information, but just for the fun of it, it would be interesting to get other examples of the build date to delivery date on those cars that had the DD stamped on the vins. Owners could surmise a little history on their cars.
