64 turn signal flasher

What is the correct original flasher for an early 64 (#2138) w/o backup lights? Does it have 2 or 3 prongs? I did a search and they talk about Tung Sol and Signal Stat.

Tung Sol AP373 (round, yellow-painted aluminum) or Signal Stat 145 (rectangular, gold or various). Both have 2-prongs. Don't forget about the wax paper capacitor that is installed with the flasher on radio equipped models.

I believe that the Tung-Sol 323 and the Signal Stat 145 flashers are correct for the 1964 and 1965 Corvettes wo/ backup lights. A few years ago I had several NOS yellow anodized metal Signal Stat 145 flashers dated "T444" (Toronto 44th week of 1964), "T475", and "T495" as well as some used 145 flashers (see link below).

A very knowledgeable judge for the 63-64 class once told me that the third digit of the Signal Stat flasher (143,144) stood for the number of bulbs that were flashed. That would mean a 144 had no reverse and the 143 had the reverse lights installed. Thats considering a parking light, bulb in the cluster and one or two reds on the rear.
????????? Sounds like a good reason to me.
Of course that would eliminate the Signal Stat 145 from ever being installed in a Corvette. ???????? From the factory that is!!!!! of course that would not consider that "my Corvette is original" owners!

+1, and remember the Signal Stat has to have the "LL" embossing on the can.

My 1964 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1963) lists GM # 383637 in Gr. 2.892 as the flasher for the 1964 Corvette (exc. back-up lamp) and is described as "FLASHER (3 bulb)" . Part # 383637 is also listed in the 1964 Corvette AIM (Sect. 12, sheet B1.00).

My 1969 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1968) describes the 383637 flasher as "FLASHER (3 bulb) (Stat. Co. No. 145, Tung. Sol. No. 323)".

I would say that both the Signal Stat 145 and Tung Sol 323 flashers were issued on the assembly line on the 1964 models. I once owned a NOS Signal Stat 145 flasher dated "S0364" (Syracuse, 3rd week 1964). It was common for GM to have more that one source for parts made by other companies for reasons of supply and cost.
