    65 roadster taking on water

I have noticed that when I wash my 65 roadster that it leaks water just above the brake and clutch pedals. It still has the original windshield and the seal still looks good so my guess is somewhere below the vent area at the base of the windshield. Any suggestions on the best way to track down the path of water and a fix?
    thanks for any suggestions

Possibly the sealing tar around the left wiper transmission. Pull the wiper grill and take a look.

It must be a real Corvette - it leaks! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Don H.

Most of the time you have a stopped up drain. The water that goes into the wiper grille drains out thru a hole that is probably stopped up. Crawl under the bottom just below the wiper well and see if water drains out thru the small hole forward of the rocker on the left side.

And if those things do not fix problem then try this.
The interface between the fiberglass and cage is an opened area. I caulked mine in the 70's and no more wet feet.
You can see the area (driver's side) from top where the problem is. The second picture is of the passenger's side fix however you get the idea (tooo hard to get driver's side) But try the simple fix's first.

JR is correct about this area clogging. Another way to get there is to pull the right and left vent grills off and vacuum out the entire area down to the frame. I attached a 1 inch hose to my shop vac to get down there. I got out 50 years of leaves and junk. If you have a vert think about cleaning the water holes above the rear wheels. This drains water out the space the rear deck sits in. If those holes clog you will rust out the nut plate for the deck hinges and rust the springs on the deck hinge.

All of the above are good suggestions but I have one more. Under the stainless trim the windshield gasket fits around the bird cage. There should be a puddy like material between the rubber gasket and the bird cage. If the old material is missing or damaged it could cause a leak.
