My 63 convertible has a 67 passenger dash pad, i.e. the passenger dash does not have a hand grab hole. This pad was in the car when I bought it 15 yrs ago, and the car is a driver. I have finally decided that I would like to have the hole. Would it be reasonable to attempt to cut a hole in the existing pad, or might that cause problems (loosen) with the skin on the rest of the pad? Barring any loose skin problems, it seems like the metal insert for the hole would cover any evidence of trauma from cutting the hole. The alternative of course is to replace the pad, but I thought I would ask, just in case someone might have had success in doing this.
