1958 Interior Door Release Shaft Color

What color should the exposed shaft be for the door release? There is about 1/2" of the shaft exposed between the door panel and the knob on my 58.

Car is white, interior is red.

Black, also inside lip of top of door to hide paint over spray.

PS: Heard about doing the inside of the door lip earlier so I have that done also.
