    65 Fuel Injection Identification

    Is there any threads in the archives(couldn't find) for Identification/Things to look for on a 65 Fuel Injection Unit?
    Sorry probably a lot of info. I just didn't see any.

      James, I can appreciate you asking this question but it's tall order to type everything you need to look at. Hard for me typing with two fingers.
      A phone call would be a 100% better than typing a very long list. My contact info in "The Restorer" under fuel injections.

      For a start. The first thing I look at when considering buying a 63 to '65 FI unit is if there any cracks in the plenum legs. . If the plenum has more than one and say two cracks in the legs you better keep on looking as those plenums are rare and major bucks. That's one of the reasons I wouldn't buy a midyear FI unit on an auction site unless I knew the seller and could call him to discuss this.

      Money can fix all the issues except for bad castings.
      A picture is worth a 1000 words. Old adage that doesn't mean much. John

        Take John up on the phone call. You will not find a more knowledgeable fuel injection person. Nice guy too!

          Thanks John Seeley. We aim to please. I tell everything i have learned over the years that you won't find in a text book. Just ask and if I can't talk I will call you back in short order.
          I learned a lot from the masters that are no longer with us. One that I learned the most from was Gail Parsons. He was my pal but not one to cut loose with secret tips. Once in a while he would cut loose with something and you can be sure I dam well got it.
          Story: One day I said to my pal. Gail when are you going to cut me a break old buddy. He said JD what do you mean? So I told him the above and he said I was mistaken. Gail said ask me anything you want. Well that was about 35 years ago gang. And until he passed on he and I always talked like two old ladies telling each other most anything. I did talk to a lot of the RP engineers in their days but really learned the most from experience from old timers like Gail.
          Jerry Bramlett is another great source of info also gang. He and Gail were close also. I don't see Jerry here much anymore though.
          Oops. Forgot about my pal Brian Futo. Now I will hear about it. Futo forgot more than most people know. John D
