    Sharing Chapter Newsletters

Is there a page somewhere on this site which shares chapter and regional newsletters?

Here's the link to "The Tailpipe", the Texas Chapter's newsletter- http://www.ncrstexas.org/newsletters...pipe2016Q3.pdf

There are some really interesting member articles; see "First 1953 Corvette Sketches" by Gary Chesnut and "For What It's Worth" by Ken Robb.

I learned about using inexpensive yoga mats as fender covers after reading "Covering Those Fenders" by Bill Usher. I actually bought a 10mm mat the same day. It works fantastic. Am I the last guy to know about this tip?

    Re: Sharing Chapter Newsletters

The way I do it is to go to Contacts which is in the header bar. From there you can scroll down to go to each Chapter web site and then to the newsletter. Some chapters you are not going to be able to get into as it must be for their members only. Some chapters don't have a newsletters, some are not even current. It would be nice if there were a better way.

      Hi Mark,

If you are a chapter newsletter editor, you automatically receive all chapter newsletters. Folks on the NCRS board receive them, too. Maybe you could suggest that a newsletter subscription option be added to the NCRS web page.

As Chairman of the Pittsburgh Chapter I receive a lot of other chapter newsletters. But not all of them. i am going to guess that I receive about 1/3 of them.Actually our newsletter editor, John Maher receives them and forwards them on to me. Then I go from there.

The point of the above is this. Those of you that belong to a chapter should inform your editor that he or she is supposed to forward the newsletters to all of the chapters in the world.
Is this correct moderators, etc? Thanks, John D.

John, I agree wholeheartedly, and I'm the editor of the NCRS publications and according to the by-laws I'm supposed to get every chapter newsletter...and no matter how many times I request them or notify the chapters to send me the newsletters electronically, I still don't get half of them...it's been that way for the past 8 yrs since I took over as editor...and I usually send out a reminder twice a year and still don't get half of them

            Re: Sharing Chapter Newsletters

One of the requirements of the Chapter Flight Program is to submit a copy of chapter newsletters. While managing the program, I did receive newsletters from all of the chapters that participated in the program - about 34. It was enlightening to see how different chapters do different activities in different ways and it might benefit all chapters to see how others handle chapter activities around the world. Over the years I have bought and sold several items as a result of the ads in the various chapter newsletters which is a little surprising since the chapter reports are submitted on a quarterly schedule and were somewhat dated by the time I got them. It would be a very positive perk if all members could have fairly easy access to all chapter newsletters.

As editor of my chapter's newsletter, I agree with statements above. I too get some of them.

I do wish all editors would use the mass mail link that NCRS has provided for us. Many send them with a typed link that must be copied and pasted into the browser. One even requires a password (which is provided).

The mass mail feature is a time saver that can be used for all groups that are to receive a copy (chapter members, team leaders, board members). When I first became editor, I had to maintain emails for all these people and change them as needed. Thank you, IT team for providing this.

As the Delaware Chapter Newsletter Editor I use the mass email distribution but would like to suggest a mass email specifically for the newsletter editors to use. As it is currently I first send an email to the chapter members, then another to the newsletter editors, then another to the board members. Is there a way to combine those three mass email lists so we only have to do it once (as I sometimes forget to do all three.....)

PS: I just distributed ours this AM before reading this.

Do you think some of these items could be discussed at the next board meeting at the Long Star Regional?

Why is it when you go to some of the chapter web sites you can't get in? Is this because you need to be a member of that chapter?

                      Hi Tom,

As a chapter newsletter editor, every quarter I have the same thought. It sure would be easier if there was a single "newsletter distribution" button on the web site.

I asked about this a couple years ago and was told there was no way to do so. I don't know if anything has changed.

There are very few things in the world where "there was no way to do so." That's usually code for lack of resources or motivation.

What if every Region and Chapter was assigned a URL under the NCRS.org site map to post their publications?

Setting aside the discussion about how to distribute newsletters among editors - what about the rest of us rif-raff?

Point is how to make the newsletters available to ordinary members. My experience is, those other chapter newsletters the editors get, generally are not forwarded to members. I belong to several chapters and those editors don't forward other chapter's newsletters to their rank-and-file members. (One chapter used to but stopped when a new editor took over.)

Second point, if all editors suddenly began to forward all newsletters that would become unwieldy, especially for members that belong to several chapters. Suggestion would be to add a newsletter link to individual Chapters information on our "CONTACTS" page, or have a single newsletter links page on the National NCRS web site with links to all current Chapter newsletters.

                            Above worth $0.02.

How about killing two birds with one stone? Add a single newsletter distribution button to the web site. Allow any member who wants to receive all the newsletters to add their name to the newsletter distribution via another button.
