    Smaller Wheel Weights

My question pertains to the .5 oz., and .25 oz. weights.

I found a couple coffee cans full of old wheel weights on a recent junk yard excursion. The larger weights are self explanatory with their logo's on the face of the weights. However, these smaller weights aren't large enough to display logo's.

I have several 1/2 oz. weights with the curved ends like other MICRO weights, with an embossed "AM.5" on it's face. Several others with a slightly different configuration on the ends that have an embossed ".5M". Any idea what manufacturer made these?

Also, all the .25 oz. weights have squared off ends. The weight designations on the face are as follows: M.25, .25, and 1/4.

I'd upload photos, but since I've forgotten how to resize photos to allow the upload, I'd probably die of old age before I could figure that out again.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Mike,

The AM.5 are Micro weights made by Bada.

The 0.25 oz weights weren't used on the production line for C2, nor I suspect for C3. I can't tell you the manufacturer from the information you provided.

      Thanks Gary.

It's amazing how many people made wheel weights. I found Sears and Wards weights in those cans also.

Even more amazing is the number of weights produced since their inception back in the 1930's! Every wheel was allowed up to (5 oz.) on all five tires, on every car, (all manufacturers). So, just imagine the amount of lead out there in wheel weights....

To add to Gary's post, those odd winged weights, (Sears, Goodyear, Allstate, etc.) were also made by BADA. Just as today one supplier to several independents then to user.

More, this should be a repeat but, GM only used half ounce weight increments, starting at .5 and went up to 2.5. If additional weight was needed multiple weights would have been used. An after market "trick" is to snip or trim off some weight from a larger size to reduce to quarter (varying) ounce sizes......

Thank you both Gary and Kevin for the great information. I was not aware until now that the production line did not use weights above 2.5 ounces. The new JG for 70-72's does not mention that. I guess all those 3+ oz. MICRO weights I found weren't such a great find after all.

Oh well; live and learn, and learn, and learn,................
