    Special Paint car (1969)

Is there anything known about the reason behind the special paint scheme on this VIN 194679S705546car from 1969:

The yellow with saddle triggered the Special Paint The paint scheme is somebodies personal touch ( I ordered a Yellow/Saddle 1969) and the tank sheet said Special Paint

I agree. This car has been "customized" inside and out. There's no way this car came from the factory with paint "stripes" or with the seat covers it has now.

By the way, the frame on this car looks rough. I'd say it's a candidate for a "frame transplant". The problem is that to do such a "transplant" and otherwise restore the car to its original appearance is going to cost more than the car would be worth once it's done. So, as a restoration candidate, the car's value as-is, is ZERO.

NEVER say "never". I'll admit to be somewhat shocked that saddle vinyl was not an "approved" trim color for Daytona Yellow. Why wouldn't it be? I'll accept Ralph's statement that saddle vinyl triggered "Special Paint" but would ask "Why Twice" and in addition, also state "Special Trim"? Other questions arise: Order received on "8/09/29"? Production date "8/10/18"? Who is dealer 647 in Zone 18? Help.

In the description of the car the writer states that the car has been repainted at some time in its life. Since the car has been repainted, we KNOW that the paint stripes are not original to the car. I feel quite confident that they were not a restoration of some stripes that were originally on the car.

Why wasn't saddle interior an RPO when Daytona Yellow was the exterior color? "Why Twice"? Why "special trim"? Well, I expect the guys that know are long-since dead. But, I don't think it has anything to do with the stripes or the current interior being original to the car.
