what color is the front grill? Is it flat black or gloss black?

I would say neither. More like semi-gloss black. Actually, it's anodized black, not paint. if you search around a bit, pretty sure you can find photos from which you can judge the shade of black.

I can probably come up with a photo of an NOS black grill in my garage. Will try to did it out.

Ed,

Some photos of NOS black grill. Camera photos don't really show best color which now seems more like satin black. Out in the bright sunlight, this grill actually has a purplish hue but held back some distance and the black color is obvious.

The original grill in my 62 which I have owned for 51 years is anodized gold. I am actually the third owner. No 2 owner was very short so am more like the 2nd owner.

Replacement Grilles of the 70's were both gold and black. Your grille was replaced by one that could have been bought from GM. Not on an original 62 from the factory.

I never referenced the black grill I have as an original factory installed grill, I said it was NOS as the term is clearly understood by most as "New Old Stock" and yes it came over the counter from Chevrolet parts dept.

Please don't suggest that the gold grill in my 62 was not original factory installed. I have seen other examples of "original" gold grills in 62s.
