What is the best way to lubricate a noisy tach cable? I purchased some Cable Ease but am not sure how to proceed. Can I remove the inner cable from the sheath from above to lubricate it and then reinsert it? It's tough to get at the cable connection to the tach under the dash. Thanks.

The best way is to remove the cable from the outer casing, lubricate it, and re-install. However, the cable must be removed from the instrument end. As you note, it's very difficult to do this as behind-the-dash access is difficult. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Noel, in order to properly clean and lube the inner cable, it must be removed from the tachometer head behind the cluster. Tough to get at, but doable.
