Re: C-1 carburetor overhaul kit for wcfb
Do NOT buy those Chinesium 'white box' kits from any old parts store.
A NAPA Echlin kit or the Daytona Parts kits are best.
I prefer Daytona due to the design of the needle valve...

Re: C-1 carburetor overhaul kit for wcfb
Well it looks like I will give NAPA a call since there close. The problem I have seen it the accelerator pump is leather and dries up and then no longer works. the C1 has seen about 1000 miles on it in 15 years so I have rebuilt the carb. about 5 years ago. does any one know if the kits make have a rubber pump, I saw that Daytona kits say the work with ethanol fuels. By the way last kit was a Hygrade and was not crazy about the quality.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

I've used maybe 12-14 Daytona kits between my cars and friends cars...they are a fine product..Attached Files- Top

Re: C-1 carburetor overhaul kit for wcfb
Well I took the advice here on Daytona parts and order a kit, I was talking with a woman there that was very knowledgeable and I will be buying parts from them in the years to come.they say there gaskets are made exact from factory pieces for a precise fit which makes for a easier rebuild. and we talked about other box kits sold by other companies, and she nothing positive about them, and I agree.Just for general knowledge Napa's kit were among the kits she talked about, they have done there research.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: C-1 carburetor overhaul kit for wcfb
Chester, they maybe ok for some carbs. but I was talking with her about the WCFB carb. the kits that you buy today the gaskets used are sometimes different form model to model so the box kits give you an extra 20 gaskets to cover more years and models, that leaves room for mistakes if you don't properly match them correctly.years ago you got exactly what you needed for that carb no.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: C-1 carburetor overhaul kit for wcfb
Daytona Parts has the original Carter microfiche files they obtained decades ago....I've physically seen them and examined the ones for my 270hp dual quads with an ancient microfiche reader they had. Their products are designed off the original engineering data....
Everybody has their personal preference - some like the NAPA/Echlin kits (which I've used), some like the old Walker Products kits...I'm pretty much sold on Daytona after so many well-working rebuilds... Pick your poison I guess...- Top

Re: C-1 carburetor overhaul kit for wcfb
I've used Dayton before and like them. Only problem is there kits contain the new design float needle valves which I did not care for. I asked if I could purchase kit without the new valves and they said no. The valves requires stacking 2 or 3 gaskets together for the valve in order to get the right height. I don't like the idea of stacking gaskets. And when I ask how many gaskets do I use I got two different answers. Also with the new valves what height do you set the floats too. No one knows.- Top

Re: C-1 carburetor overhaul kit for wcfb
All the new Daytona kits I've installed use 3 round gaskets for the WCFB - its clearly stated in the instructions....
I feel the 'thumbtack' needle valve is an improvement...
Again, I'm not 'pimping' anything for anybody... Folks should use what they've had success with.
Attention to detail, cleanliness and following instructions are way more important IMO than which of the top 3 kits are used for a rebuild.
Any of them will yield adequate results...- Top
