Preservation of Factory-Applied Stickers and Markings

I'm looking to the future and would like to know what successful methods have been used to preserve factory-applied stickers and markings that are subject to deterioration even from careful use. I don't intend to maintain a garage queen and on newer Corvettes there are a number of paper stickers with bar codes and part numbers on them located on the underside or in the engine compartment that are sure to deteriorate and even fall off after extended exposure to heat and cool cycles, moisture, dirt and road debris. Short of photographing them in place for historical purposes and/or trying to carefully remove them without ruining them has anyone used a method to preserve them in place such as applying a clear sealer? Any ideas and input are appreciated.
