1972 Power Brake Booster Check Valve

I know the valve changed sometime after 1970, so I would like to find out which is correct for 1972. I've seen both Pic 1 and 2. And if it's Pic 2, what number should be in the square?

Please excuse me if this is covered in the NEW judging guide, I will get one!

Chris, I just looked at my 72 and it appears to have a square with the number 6 in the middle. it is not at all like your first pic. although I have seen them many times before, not sure on the year of your check valve.

The valve on our 1972 matches what you show in your second picture.

If there is a number in the square on the face of the valve, I'm not able to discern it. The new JG doesn't mention a number, only that the valve is painted gloss black along with the vacuum booster.

Just a guess, but I suspect that number is the mold cavity number so the manufacturer can track any quality issues.
